Bridge Officer's Test
The Bridge Officer's Test is a mandatory certification for being permanently assigned
as a Commanding Officer, First Officer or Second Officer of a Starship. It is also
required in order to take a standard duty shift as Commanding Officer on the bridge of
any Starship (unless sufficient personnel are not available for a reasonable command
shift rotation). Scenarios are staged in the holodeck and classroom to simulate
real-life emergencies that the candidate must pass in order to go to the next level.
Passing this test usually earns the pupil an automatic promotion in rank (unless the
officer was recently promoted).
