New Vegas Government
While the government of New Vegas can be considered an oligarchy, a timocracy or a plutarchy/plutocracy is best defined as a corporate
republic. The planet is fully owned by the New Vegas Investment and Development Authority (NVIDA) chartered under Ferengi commerce law.
The corporate entity is derived from Quark’s original purchase of the moon and is the default owner of all of the real estate and natural
resources on New Vegas. It nominally “owned” Crylos III after the defeat of the Forar Syndicate (Quark traded joint ownership of New Vegas for
an equal share in the planet with the New Vegas Syndicate). With the treaty to allow Crylos III to join Orion Republic, the corporation became
owner of fifty percent of the Crylos system resources (excluding both New Vegas and Crylos III and their associated satellites and orbital
pathways and companions from the calculation). NVIDA may sell property outright to purchasers but more commonly provides long term leases
to land. Social services and infrastructure typically provided by government on other planets are privately administered by NVIDA either directly
or outsources through contracts. Despite the common misconception about the nature of corporate republics, not all of the residents of New
Vegas are NVIDA employees nor does NVIDA own and operate all of the business on the planet.
The NVIDA Board of Directors runs New Vegas. Currently the Board of Directors is constituted of all of the shareholders or their proxies.

Citizen – Shareholders in NVIDA and their descendants are full citizens of New Vegas. All citizens are also citizens of the Ferengi Alliance.
Legal Resident – Registered inhabitants of New Vegas with no other citizenship. These individuals would be considered citizens under most
systems of government but do not have voting rights of any kind.
Resident Alien – Registered inhabitants of New Vegas who retain citizenship under a foreign government. Resident aliens may buy or lease
property long term, own or operate businesses or work on the planet.
Visitor – Temporary inhabitants of New Vegas. Duration of their stay on the planet does not effect this classification. It covers both tourists and
long term residents who do not register as resident aliens. Visitors may lease property for up to one year at a time, may not own property, own
or operate a business of work on the planet.

• Current New Vegas Citizens: Quark, Thomas Riker, Riley Connor, Alex Nechayev, Julia T’orne, Talia Nechayev, Uraslina, Harry Kim,
Alexander Hawksley.
• Previously citizenship was purchased for a payment of 100 bricks of gold-pressed latinum.
• The right of citizenship passes by blood not place of birth. It is possible to be a citizen without owning shares in NVIDA.
