Fourth Federation Starship Missing Along Border
November 15, 2373
Starbase 83: The USS Grankite has become the fourth Starfleet vessel to go
silent while patrolling the Cardassian border in the last eight weeks. The
Ambassador class starship was on a routine patrol route along the border
when it failed to report in during a designated communications window.
Starships sent to discover the whereabouts of the ship reported that the
Grankite was not in the area.
Starfleet Intelligence is investigating the disappearance and treating it as an
attack. “515 people are missing and we intend to find out what happened to
them,” said Rear Admiral Jack Barlow, the Deputy Director of Starfleet
Intelligence.
The Grankite joins the USS Constantine, the USS Bean and the USS Franklin
as Federation Starships lost along the Cardassian border in the last two
months. The wreckage of an Oberth class starship was detected in the
Dasikar Sector where the USS Bean was last reported. The wreckage of the
USS Franklin was discovered only last week. Not signs of the Constantine
have ever been detected.
