Bajoran Wormhole Mined; Deep Space Nine Falls
December 30, 2373
USS Sovereign: Reports indicate that KDF General Martok and SF Captain
Benjamin Sisko successfully mined the Bajoran wormhole with cloaked, self-
replicating mines preventing further Dominion re-enforcements from arriving
from the Gamma Quadrant. However, the victory has cost the Federation
Alliance with the loss of Deep Space Nine.
Upon hearing of the plans to mine the wormhole, the Dominion launched a full-
scale attack on the Bajoran System and Deep Space Nine. While all
Federation ships were busy with other maneuvers, including the attack on
Torros III, Deep Space Nine was sacrificed, in favor of counting on the success
of the cloaked mine field.
Fleet Admiral Marquette issued a statement saying that Bajor would be safe as
the Dominion does not want to appear aggressive to the neutral governments
of the Alpha Quadrant. “The Dominion will never mistreat or attack Bajor
considering they have a non-aggression pact with the Dominion. If they did,
not other government, including the Romulans and Tholians, would feel
obligated to honor their non-aggression pacts.”
The Deep Space Nine contigiant has been merged with the Federation Ninth
Fleet, under the command of Vice Admiral William Ross.
