Losses Mount and Forces Retreat but Federation and
Klingon Territory Remains Safe, though Unabated
March 13, 2374
Starbase 36: Thus far, for the months of February and the first 13 days of
March, the Federation and Klingon Empire have lost 396 starships. “It is an
astounding number that cannot keep up,” said Commodore Andrew Dodge, a
senior analyst at the Federation Center for Strategic Research on Vulcan.
The Center cautions that the bulk of the figures stem from the complete loss
of the Federation Fourth Fleet and the Klingon Tenth Fleet at Coridan less than
a month ago. The battle cost the Federation Alliance a total of 202 starships;
over half the losses recorded thus far.
Meanwhile, the Starfleet Corps of Engineers reports that Zed facility
reactivation is proceeding slow. Starfleet Engineering has began a new
program to increase these operations. Output at Starship production facilities
are at peak capacity and the completion of new shipyard facilities in Sol,
Vulcan, Andor and Trill systems are proceeding ahead of schedule.
A new program developed by Starfleet Operations has increased the enlisted
personnel output but 38%, with an accelerated training program lasting 18
months instead of 24. Despite this, Starfleet personnel output is far below that
of the Dominion, which can clone and grow their Jem’Hadar solders.
