“One Galaxy a Month,” Utopia Predicts

April 1, 2374
Utopia Planitia, Mars: The Starfleet Corps of Engineers based on Utopia
Planitia issued a report to Command Authority today promising that, by the
end of 2374, Utopia Planitia fleet yards orbiting Mars, will be at a production
capacity to complete one Galaxy Class starship per month.

The bold statement is already being received with open skepticism around the
shipyard industry.  “Such a statement can only serve as a moral booster with
little in the way of fact,” said Administrator Disarel, a senior manager at
Eridani-A Fleet Yards at Andor.  “The yards at Utopia are quite massive but a
to complete a Galaxy class every month is ridiculous!”

In fact, the average Galaxy class starship takes, on average, three years to
complete.  Mathematically speaking, that would require the concurrent
construction of 36 ships at a time.  Utopia Planitia also produces other key
ships, including the Akira and Steamrunner classes.

“Our construction methods have improved drastically in the last four months,”
said Rear Admiral Diana Furrow, the Commanding Officer at Utopia Planitia for
the last four years.  “It will not take 36 ships to be built at the same time, but
rather less than half that.”  The report also announces drastic increases in the
production of other starship classes.
